Borgo SanLeo NV Prosecco (Brut) Italy

A recommendation from guy at the wino, err, liquor store I sometimes frequent. Not a bad effort, if a trifle sweet for me, in spite of the Brut word on the label.

First, there is a FANTASTIC amount of bubble production with this wine, so much so that it will create a half inch of foam at the top of your glass. In addition, those bubbles are rather tiny and keep going for a while. The wine itself is a very pale straw yellow color with a sweetness (not particularly sugary) for your taste buds that belie the Brut tag on the label. Fruity, but not overly so, and some mild tree fruit for you nose too. A little more intensity could have helped. It has an OK balance and a short to medium finish. It might be a nice "starter" wine for the evening, because of the bubbles, good for a Mimosa too. But perhaps consider scaling back the OJ to unsweetened with this one.
