Another in the stable from Rodney Strong. Not quite as well liked perhaps as the Cab, but still good. And for the money perhaps a better buy. Good for sipping if you like a rather dry red, but in a pinch, perhaps for dinner too. It's a clear, bright ruby-violet colored wine with some depth to it -- some might call it a deep depth. There seems to be a bit of structure to this one and some definate berry notes both on your nose and tongue. The tannins are well modulated here especially with some aeration before hand, but there's also a drying astringency that seems to linger a bit too long. There's enough acidity for use at dinner, but enough taste to use for sipping too, if you really like a dry red. Rodney Strong |
